As consultants the founding team saw, in the last 10 years, a recurring pain point in remote teams: “how is my team really doing?” While there are bulky, sluggish enterprise solutions for this. Nothing came close to their vision and targeted for SMB's: affordable, simple to use, powerful solutions that is also pleasing to the eye. That's how Helptail was born in early 2020.
Helptail is a bootstrapped company. We work remotely and asynchronous, because you should decide where and when you can do your best work. With a cumulative 20 years of remote work experience, we can be called remote veterans. We believe life is more than just work. So we work really focussed, so we can enjoy the many other things in life too.
Relationships between people is important to us. Between our customers and within our team. This is more valuable than (even) more revenue. Happiness with our customers, who we work with and in the work we do is a really high priority. Providing fulfilling jobs that take way less than 40 hours a week is what we strive for.
We believe in honesty. Amongst our team and to our customers. We don't use tacky marketing, dark UX patterns or flat-out lie. There's a Dutch saying we like: “Al is de leugen nog zo snel de waarheid achterhaalt ze wel”.
Facebook's “Move Fast and Break Things” motto is terrible for the customer. We rather ship one great feature than 3 mediocre features. We also ship features incrementally, but always with a focus on quality.
This could be listed under “people first”, but we deemed it important enough to warrant its own value. We work to life—not the other way around. That's why we are bootstrapped, remote and async. We decide when and where we work, so we can schedule work around our family, friends, sport and hobbies, instead of the other way around.
